Point Of Departure

Andrew Hill • LP

29

“Point Of Departure” is a stellar recording, essential for any representative jazz collection, and a record that, in the 21st century, still points the way to the future for jazz. The Penguin Guide To Jazz gave the album a top rating plus a special “crown” accolade, and included it as part of the selected core collection.

The song “Dedication” was originally titled “Cadaver” and wants to express a feeling of great loss. The sad aura of the piece was such that, after playing a section of said piece, Dorham teared up a bit.

This is from the 75 Year Blue Note collection, and is in great shape. The sleeve shows light signs of storage, the vinyl LP itself is near mint. Comes with a full color printed Blue Note inner sleeve. Heavyweight vinyl, amazing sound!
