The Jazz Collection

The Jazz Collection boxset, released in 1982, contains 10 LP’s with the very best the genre had to offer from 1945 to 1975. Artists include Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughan, Charles Mingus, Chick Corea, Gato Barbieri, Don Cherry, Albert Ayler, Lee Konitz, Buddy Rich, Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, Art Tatum, Jeremy Steig, Jan Hammer, Big Joe Turner, Memphis Slim, Rex Stewart and a lot more.

The box we have for sale is in great shape. The box itself is made of plastic that is translucent when held up to the light, and for an almost 50-year old object it is in great condition. The record sleeves (all gatefolds full of liner notes) are also in superb shape. Someone did write on them with a silver marker to match the order of the LP’s with the tracklisting on the back of the box, but it doesn’t even look bad and it’s helpful. There are also some occasional pen marks here and there. The vinyl is stunning – almost as good as new.
