Sax Maniac

James White And The Blacks • LP

22

“Sax Maniac” is a 1982 album by New York jazz-punk band James White And The Blacks, fronted by James Chance under his James White pseudonym. A key figure in no wave, Chance has been playing a combination of improvisational jazz-like music and punk in the New York music scene since the late 1970’s, in such bands as Teenage Jesus And The Jerks, and The Contortions. The album was originally released on Chris Stein’s Animal Records label and dedicated to Anya Philips. This an early 2000’s reissue on superheavy 220-grams vinyl featuring three bonus tracks recorded in 1988.
