Punk Note: Rock For Light

Bad Brains • LP

99

“Rock For Light”, Bad Brains’ second full-length album, was produced by Ric Ocasek of The Cars and is one of the most important hardcore punk records of all time.

The album contains a number of re-recorded songs from the band’s first album, as well as a number of new hardcore punk and reggae tracks. In 1991 the album was remixed by Ocasek and bass player Darryl Jenifer. The reissued version had some extra tracks, an altered track order, significantly different mixes and, on most tracks, a speed increase of the master which resulted in a raising of the pitch by one-half step.

The original mix was only available until 1987 and was replaced by the new mix. However, in 2021 the original mix was restored and is now available again on vinyl. The audio was remastered from the original tapes by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering and pressed at Furnace Record Pressing.

This is the limited “Punk Note” edition and comes with alternate artwork by designer John Yates from Stealworks, printed on a heavy cardboard tip-on sleeve. The artwork is a nod to Reid Miles and Francis Wolff, and their amazing work at the Blue Note label. This special pressing was limited to only 1000 copies and comes on beautiful transparent yellow vinyl. Looks and sounds truly amazing. Perhaps the greatest pressing to date of this iconic album.
