Halloween In Bagamoyo

Bladed is an artpop / indierock band from Oslo, Norway, founded in 2004. “Halloween In Bagamoyo” is their third album. The lyrics and the title of the album are inspired by the injustice experienced travelling to Bagamoyo, Tanzania, where Henry Morton Stanley started his famous journey looking for Dr. Livingstone. Stanley is remembered as an icon of imperialism, and the idea behind the design was to use one of his books (“In Darkest Africa”) and replace his texts with the lyrics of the album to get a different set of reflections, closer to how they should have been. To emphasise the age of the book, it is displayed laying in a photo studio, ready to be digitalised and stored. The marbled pattern on the front of the book uses the colors of the national flag of Tanzania.
