Angstgegner

ANGSTGEGNER was conceived in 2013 when Martijn Konings wrote and recorded a bunch of hardcore instrumentals in the vein of early Black Flag on his own. Fellow Otis bandmember Mario van Meer was called in to provide vocals for Angstgegner, and within a year about a dozen songs were documented at Studio 195. Satisfied with the results, a liveband was formed with Martijn playing guitar, Mario singing, Ruud van Esch (Razorblade) on drums and Jean Morreau (NRA) on bass. At the end of 2014, backed with an EP (a split 7-inch with Tarantino) the band debuted at the Incubate festival.

The next couple of years Angstgegner released their first album, and shared stages from the Netherlands to Slovenia with The Freeze, OFF!, Peter Pan Speedrock, Cheap Drugs, Backfire! and Poison Idea. After that Mario was diagnosed with a brain tumor while Martijn faced some other demons, so the band had to go on hiatus for some time.

ANGSTGEGNER is now back and stronger than ever. And, in 2025 Gram Records will release their second album on vinyl! There are a number of new singles out on Spotify and Bandcamp already, we combined these new recordings with some earlier material to create this limited edition singles collection tape as a teaser for the new album.

Back to the debut LP: it was presumed sold out long ago but we stumbled upon some boxes of the black vinyl variant (red is still sold out, we think) which you can get for a couple of euros extra when you pre-order the new album. Still brand new!
