History Has Taught Us Nothing

About a decade ago ANGSTGEGNER released their first album and played a bunch of shows across Europe. Then the band came to an abrupt halt for treatment of a brain tumor and other physical and mental issues. With all that out of the way, Angstgegner is now out of hibernation and stronger than ever.

In 2025 Gram Records will release Angstgegner’s second album on vinyl. So far, we already put out a number of new singles via Spotify and Bandcamp and combined these new recordings with earlier material to create this limited edition singles collection tape which is almost sold out.

Now, the new LP contains 16 brand new songs and comes with an 8-page booklet and stickers. Martijn Konings (drums, guitar) and Mario van Meer (vocals, bass) recorded the foundation for all tracks at Patrick Delabie’s Studio 195 in a couple of days, and invited Jean Morreau (NRA), Hans Vermeeren (Harsh Realms), Maarten Vermeulen (Hvalross), Antal Derene (Unborn), Walter Poppelaars (Otis), Gerton Govers (Light Brigade) and Patrick Delabie himself to the party. Together they created a very diverse album, exploring the boundaries of hardcore while still raging on like a tank.

Musically, the band added some more Discharge, Melvins, Descendents and even Shellac to their Black Flag sound. Vocally, the album is a lot more furious than the first one because you know, the planet is currently being choked to death by some billionaires so let’s all unite and chant down Babylon.
