A Gift From The Sea

A remarkable and highly unusual set of three Japanese promotional vinyl LPs, released in 1983 by Toshiba EMI for Mitsui OSK Lines to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Osaka Mitsui OSK Shipping Company. The records feature performances spanning jazz, pop, classical and traditional Japanese music, with artists and ensembles including Ken-ichi Sonoda and his Dixie Kings, Izumi Taku and the Marine Orchestra, Katsuhisa Hattori and the Blue Sea Strings, and others.

Presented as a three-LP set and in great shape, this is a particularly interesting find for collectors of Japanese vinyl, promotional releases, jazz and easy listening, or maritime memorabilia. The three sleeves are beautifully designed, and the set includes several photos of the Mitsui boats, plus an insert with additional info, all in Japanese. A rare and beautifully preserved piece of Japanese musical and cultural history.
