"Ill Communication" is the Beastie Boys' fourth studio album, originally released in 1994, by Grand Royal and Capitol Records. It is among the band's most varied releases, drawing from hiphop, rock, punk, jazz, and funk, and continues their trend away from sampling and towards live instruments which began with their previous release "Check Your Head" (1992). The album features musical contributions from Money Mark, Eric Bobo and Amery Smith, and vocal contributions from Q-Tip and Biz Markie. Beastie Boys were influenced by Miles Davis' jazz rock albums "On The Corner" (1972) and "Agharta" (1975) while recording "Ill Communication".

DFL's "My Crazy Life" was recorded at the Beastie Boys' G-Son Studios in Atwater Village in 1993 with Ad Rock himself on bass. Beastie Boys producer Mario Caldato recorded the record, and it was released in 1993 on the Beastie Boys imprint Grand Royal Records as a 7-inch and CD. It is now available for the first time as an LP, remastered from the original analog tapes, and also includes an unearthed live recording from G-Son Studios.

The record not only stood as a landmark release because it featured one of the Beastie Boys playing back-to-basics hardcore punk, but also because the record was composed of short songs built off Messex’s smashing riffs and Davis’ deranged howl. While most records were getting bigger and more polished, DFL was one of the few that made their music shorter, faster, and rawer. Since the album’s release, "My Crazy Life" has remained a cult record, prized by the hardcore scene due to its ferocious sound and askew lyrics... and also because it is really, really, really good.

We have two variations for sale, on blue vinyl (SOLD OUT) or on split green vinyl. Comes with lots of supercool bonus items! The packages include:

Coloured LP with die-cut printed inner sleeve

20-page fanzine

Additional 20-page oral history A4 printout

Large folded poster

Stickers

Dead Fucking Last was at first the hardcore side-project of Beastie Boys' Ad Rock, who plays bass on their first album. After he left they recorded two more albums for Epitaph Records and they are some of the most overlooked and underrated 90's punk albums.

The very first vinyl edition of DFL's second album "Proud To Be" was retitled "Tony's War" and had a different tracklist including outtakes of songs that weren't on any other variation. For sale is an almost brand new original copy in a cool spined gatefold sleeve, with the double insert and a sticker. Slight fold in one corner.
